Zhongshan Square is located to the east of Dalian Railway Station and is one of the famous squares in Dalian. This circular square is the intersection of ten roads, surrounded by many European-style buildings built a hundred years ago. Strolling around, one can feel the exotic atmosphere, and at night, these buildings are particularly beautiful under the bright lights.

Zhongshan Square was originally built during the Russian occupation period and was named Nikolayevsky Square after Tsar Nicholas II. It was renamed to commemorate Mr. Sun Yat-sen. Most of the buildings around the square were built at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, during the periods when Russia and Japan successively occupied Dalian, and they feature a variety of styles including Romanesque, Gothic, and Renaissance. Today, most of these buildings are used by financial institutions, making it the financial district of Dalian City.

The square itself is a green space with leisure walkways, serving as a place for citizens to relax, where people often come to walk and exercise. Young people also come here to feed the pigeons in the square. For tourists who enjoy photography, the numerous Western-style buildings here are undoubtedly excellent photo spots. It is open all year round and accessible 24 hours a day.
