Qimen Gu Niujiang is located at the junction of Qimen County, Huangshan City, and Shitai County, Chizhou City, approximately 80 kilometers away from Qimen County. It is named after its main peak, Gu Niu Dagan, which resembles a bull descending from the sky. The area is not crowded with tourists and attracts those who prefer tranquility and outdoor enthusiasts with its pools, waterfalls, canyons, and hiking trails.

Gu Niujiang, historically known as Western Huangshan, is the main body of the Huangshan mountain range extending to the west, with the main peak reaching an elevation of about 1727.6 meters. Many parts of the scenic area remain undeveloped, preserving a sense of wilderness. Visitors primarily explore the Gu Niu Lake near the entrance and two canyons – Da and Xiao Xi Valleys.

The Gu Niu Lake offers a serene environment with its emerald green waters reflecting the surrounding green hills and trees. There is a wooden walkway along the lake and a villa for tourists to stay. In the Da and Xiao Xi Valleys, several waterfalls rush through the canyons, splashing into pools and creating a mist of water droplets. Additionally, there are ancient postal roads and sites related to the New Fourth Army.

This is an excellent destination for short self-driving tours in Anhui. Hikers can trek up to the Dali Mountain, which is approximately 1528 meters above sea level. The trail is steep, and most of the journey involves walking on leaves and soil. Setting up camp at the summit allows one to witness sunrises and sunsets.

The scenic area is open all year round from 08:00 to 18:00.
