The museum’s exhibition halls are divided into three floors. The first floor features the exhibition halls of the primitive society to the Northern and Southern Dynasties, the Sui and Tang Dynasties, and the Grand Canal Hall. The second floor includes the exhibition halls of the Song Dynasty, the Yuan, Ming, and Qing Dynasties, the century-old shops, and the temporary exhibition hall. The third floor consists of the stamp and calligraphy and painting halls. The exhibits mainly consist of precious and exquisite cultural relics unearthed in Hangzhou over the years, comprehensively and focally reflecting Hangzhou’s historical features. Advanced audio-visual technology is utilized to enrich the display efficiency, creating an intuitive and perceptual atmosphere for visitors. Among the exhibits, there are national treasure-level cultural relics such as the Warring States Crystal Cup and the Yue Kiln Brown Colored Celadon Lamp. Over 200 national second-level and above cultural relics are on display, including jade and stone artifacts from the Liangzhu period and Wu Yue stone carving star charts. The museum also uses various high-tech means to showcase simulated landscapes along the Grand Canal during the Song Dynasty and the charm of Hangzhou’s century-old shops.
