The Overseas Chinese History Museum of China is a public welfare institution directly under the China Federation of Overseas Chinese, and it is a specialized museum that comprehensively displays the history and current situation of Chinese overseas immigrants, with a collection of over 30,000 pieces (sets). In 1960, the renowned patriotic overseas Chinese leader and China Federation of Overseas Chinese, Mr.
Chen Jiageng, proposed the construction of the Overseas Chinese History Museum of China in Beijing. It was completed in October 2014 and officially opened to the public in 2015. The museum adheres to the basic principles of serving overseas Chinese, society, and the nation, leveraging its extensive connections both at home and abroad. It fully utilizes the organizational network of the Overseas Chinese Museum Professional Committee of the China Museums Association to extensively carry out the collection and protection of cultural relics. It organizes exhibitions and exchange activities to promote and display the historical development and spiritual culture of overseas Chinese; combines cultural affairs and industries domestically and internationally, providing a rich array of cultural products and services. Currently, the basic exhibition of the museum is the History and Culture of Overseas Chinese, which is divided into five parts: the history of Chinese immigration overseas, the overseas life of overseas Chinese, the contributions of overseas Chinese to their host countries, the relationship between overseas Chinese and China’s development, and Chinese affairs. The exhibition displays over a thousand pieces (sets) of cultural relics and more than a thousand images. The exhibition combines historical traditions with modern concepts, using a combination of text and images, scene restoration, artistic works, and multimedia to present. To better integrate resources and expand influence, and to wholeheartedly serve returned overseas Chinese and their families, as well as overseas Chinese, the museum actively promotes and displays the excellent qualities of overseas Chinese’s love for their country, hometown, and family. It combines online and offline efforts, applying new technologies to build a VR online museum. Through 720-degree VR panoramic technology, it showcases the museum’s overall appearance, presenting precious cultural relics and historical images, enabling ‘cloud viewing’. This allows domestic and international audiences to visit the museum more safely and conveniently, expanding the influence of the Overseas Chinese History Museum of China. The museum is open all year round from Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00-17:00; closed all day on Mondays, with special holiday opening arrangements to be notified separately.Overseas Chinese History Museum of China
