The architectural layout of the Music Terrace is a first in China, located to the south of Zhongshan Square and built in 1932. The entire plan is semi-circular, with a reinforced concrete structure. The center of the circle is the stage, covering an area of nearly 250 square meters. Behind the stage is a large arc-shaped reflecting wall, which, like the Echo Wall in Beijing, is designed to gather sound waves.
The wall stands at a height of 11.3 meters and a width of 16.7 meters, faced with cement and faux stone. In front of the stage lies a crescent-shaped lotus pond with underground springs at the bottom. In front of the pond is a semi-circular lawn where the audience can sit to enjoy singing and dancing, with a capacity for three thousand spectators. Surrounding the terrace is lush green grass, weeping willows, and towering poplars.
