The term ‘heartbreak’ is one that many have experienced with tears of sorrow. On May 1, 2019, the Shanghai Heartbreak Museum officially opened on the bustling Nanjing East Road, which has been popular for 150 years. It is destined to be a street filled with stories. The Heartbreak Museum is a place where I leave my memories, both beautiful and painful, all of which we once shared. Ticket stubs, love letters, photos, and gifts, each one seems like a past self, and here you can leave behind your own past, quietly listen to others’ stories, and freely vent emotions that need to be hidden in life. The museum displays hundreds of ‘love relics’, and all the stories are handwritten and sent. Each word, each item, bears witness to the past. The Shanghai Heartbreak Museum has set up many interactive areas, hoping that everyone can learn to let go and move on through participation. There are all kinds of love in this world, yet the same heartache. This place is like a container for emotions and stories, perhaps because of these stories, exhibits, and various styles of interactive areas, the Heartbreak Museum has a unique soul. May we all enjoy every love and treat everyone well, now and in the future.
