Qi Garden, commonly known as ‘Xi’s Garden’, is a garden in Suzhou that is built against the mountains and next to the water. It is the only garden in Suzhou that is constructed in such a manner. Qi Garden consists of three parts: courtyards, gardens, and the Liu Yi Courtyard. The Liu Yi Well, the Wumei tree planted by Emperor Kangxi, and the Imperial Dock are known as the ‘Three Treasures’ of Qi Garden. Within the entire garden, the Four-Sided Hall, the Corridor, the Lake, the Rockery, and the New Building are all composed in a balanced and harmonious manner. Particularly, the ‘Imperial Dock’, embedded in the rippling Taihu Lake, is extremely poetic.
