The Nantong Buddhist Culture Exhibition Hall (West Temple) is located at No. 17, Xisi Road, Chongchuan District, Nantong City. It is on the banks of the southwest moat of the ancient Tongzhou City and is located in the beautiful national 5A-level tourist scenic area, Haohe Scenic Area. The total land area is about 6,000 square meters, and the total construction area is 2,900 square meters.
West Temple, also known as Xinghua Zen Temple, is one of the four major Buddhist temples in Nantong. It was founded in the first year of Qiandao in the Song Dynasty (1165). It has a history of more than 850 years. Over hundreds of years, it has undergone many reconstructions and renovations. The temple layout is relatively complete. In 1998, it was listed as a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit and has become an important witness to Nantong’s famous historical and cultural city.
