Hongjitang Museum, located at No. 281 Jing’er Road, Jinan, is the first comprehensive thematic museum in Shandong Province that integrates the sale of authentic medicinal materials, traditional Chinese medicine prescription treatment, traditional detailed Chinese medicine health preservation, popularization of Chinese medicine knowledge, display of Chinese medicine ancient books and cultural relics, and Chinese medicine historical culture. The museum’s exhibition hall covers an area of approximately 300 square meters, primarily displaying exhibits of Hongjitang’s traditional Chinese medicine culture, along with other traditional Chinese medicine cultural exhibits. Currently, there are about 500 pieces of cultural relics and exhibits on display.
The museum also accurately reproduces the process of making ‘Jiutian Gongjiao’. On the sand table model, more than 20 ‘workers’ follow the procedure, starting with soaking the skin in spring water, washing the skin through a rotating drum, and then going through multiple processes such as cutting the skin, boiling the gelatin, foaming, concentration, gelation, cutting the gelatin, drying, polishing, packaging, and sales to produce ejiao, showcasing the glorious history of Hongjitang’s Dongliushui Ejiao. The museum is open all year round from 9:00 to 17:00.
