Shinai’an Park in Dafeng City is renamed after the renovation and expansion of People’s Park and Martyrs Cemetery. It is a key project of ‘moral governance and popular will’ for the municipal Party committee and government to do practical things for the people. The total land area is 13.4 hectares (equivalent to 201 mu), with a total investment of more than 20 million yuan. Dafeng Martyrs Cemetery was completed in June 1959.
People’s Park was completed in October 1998. The two parks were merged in May 1999 to form the integration of the two parks and are under the management of the Civil Affairs Bureau. In the second half of 2003, the municipal Party committee and government decided to implement renovation and expansion of the park and cemetery. In the first half of 2004, the preliminary preparation work was completed. The construction started in the second half of the year and the main project was completed in December 2004 and opened to the public. The supporting improvement project will be completed in 2005.
