Shijue Temple is located on the southeast bank of the Moyang River in the south of Yangjiang urban area. Facing north, it is one of the eight ancient scenic spots in Yangjiang, known as ‘Shijue Buddhist Forest’. It is listed as one of the first batch of key cultural relics protection units in the county. Incense is flourishing and monks gather. The octagonal pavilion is inscribed with the handwriting of celebrities ‘Reaching the Other Shore’.
The couplet beside the temple, ‘The Moyang River converges at the Samadhi place. Dunbo Mountain presents the One Finger Meditation’, was written by Yan Shouqing, a tribute student in the Qing Dynasty. Zhuang Dazhong, a successful candidate in the imperial examinations in the Qing Dynasty, Lin Baoying, a famous calligrapher and recommended tribute student in the late Qing Dynasty, Chen Dexin, a juren in the late Qing Dynasty, Feng Xinian, a tribute student, and Mr. Xiang Xianlv, a social celebrity, once wrote couplets and composed poems for this temple, which have been passed down to this day.
