Jingyin Temple, also known as Nantian Si Temple, was originally established during the Five Dynasties and early Song Dynasty, and is one of the ‘Nine Great Forests’ of Buddhism in Taizhou. Emperor Yongzheng of the Qing Dynasty once bestowed an imperial plaque inscribed with ‘Jingyin’ to the temple.
Surrounded by water on the west, south, and east sides, Jingyin Temple is situated on high and open ground. The reconstructed temple is simple yet elegant, featuring a modern architectural style. The first floor serves as a restaurant and business area; the second and third floors have a central open space of approximately 11 meters, which is dedicated to the Mahavira Hall housing three large Buddha statues, surrounded by living quarters used for libraries, reading rooms, monks’ chambers, and offices; the fourth floor is a multimedia modern lecture hall; and the fifth floor is planned to be a leisure area for the temple. The temple is open all year round from 6:30 to 17:00.Jingyin Temple
