Thousand People Rock is located next to Sword Pond on Tiger Hill. It is said that during the Southern Dynasties, the monk ‘Sheng Gong’ preached here. As recorded in Lu Guangwei’s ‘Records of Wu’ from the Tang Dynasty: ‘Next to the Sword Pond on Tiger Hill, there is a rock capable of seating a thousand people, known as ‘Thousand People Rock’.’ Ye Tinggui, in his ‘Sea Record Trivia – Politics – Tomb Gate’ during the Song Dynasty, wrote: ‘Beside the Tiger Hill, there is a flat rock that can accommodate a thousand people sitting, called ‘Thousand People Rock’.

It is commonly believed that this is due to Sheng Gong preaching here.’ Chen Weisong of the Qing Dynasty mentioned in his poem ‘New Wild Goose Passes by Dressing Tower – Tiger Hill Reminisces’: ‘The temple with carved eaves and thousand people rock, I remember visiting together late at night.’ The site is open all year round, accessible 24/7, with specific operating conditions subject to daily opening status.
