Elegant and grand, Suzhou Ancient Bookstore is located at the north end of Leqiao on Renmin Road, Suzhou. It has gradually developed from the original site of Suzhou Literature Mountain House in 1958. The bookstore primarily deals in new and old editions, art books, and literary books, and as one of the top hundred art book specialty stores in the country, art books occupy half of the bookstore’s space. Display stands and bookshelves around the walls are filled with various new and old books. Here, a variety of cultural activities are frequently held, allowing readers to get up close and personal with good books, and to communicate and share with fellow book lovers face to face. You can take a break here, enjoy a cup of Biluochun tea, a local specialty of Suzhou, and participate in the making of Suzhou’s intangible cultural heritage representatives ‘Huqiu Clay Figurines’ and ‘Taohuawu New Year Pictures’, and bring home your own creations as a memento. The store is open from 09:30 to 21:30 on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays throughout the year; and from 09:30 to 21:00 on Mondays to Thursdays throughout the year.
