The Chaohu Han Tombs are located at No. 3 East Changjiang Road. These three large vertical pit wooden coffin tombs from the Western Han Dynasty period are among the most significant archaeological discoveries in Anhui Province in recent years.
The large coffin structures within the tombs are well-preserved, and a total of over three thousand four hundred pieces (sets) of various artifacts including bronze, silver, lacquer, jade, stone, iron, wood, crystal, horn, and pottery have been unearthed from the three tombs. Some of the unearthed artifacts are exceptionally exquisite, with a majority possessing high artistic value.
A large number of lacquerware pieces unearthed from the tombs feature intricate decorative patterns and a diverse range of items, providing a valuable collection of materials for the study of the material culture of the Han Dynasty.
The tombs are open to the public year-round from Tuesday to Sunday, 08:30 to 16:30; closed all day on Mondays; and open during the Spring Festival from 08:30 to 16:30. Please note that the specific business hours are subject to the day’s opening conditions.
