The ‘Changsheng Deer Park’ is located on the east side of ‘Taixiang Zhaoming’ in the Meihua Valley of Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum and on the north bank of Yanque Lake. There are currently 16 sika deer. The south side of the deer park is separated from Mingling Road by only a few meters of lake water, reproducing the historical landscape of ‘silver medal deer coming and going in the forest’. When Zhu Yuanzhang, the first emperor of the Ming Dynasty, built the Xiaoling Mausoleum, he raised thousands of deer in the Xiaoling Mausoleum area. The deer had silver medals hanging on their necks with the word ‘Changsheng’ on them. Therefore, later generations call the deer in the Xiaoling Mausoleum ‘Changsheng deer’ or ‘silver medal deer’. Tourists entering the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum can have a close encounter with the fawns in the ‘Changsheng Deer Park’. Opening hours: Open all year round from 08:30 to 17:00.
