Puzhu Temple, located in Fuqi Village, Houyu Township, Changle City, was originally known as Baofu Temple, which was built during the Ming Dynasty’s Wanli era. With a history of over 800 years, it is a significant cultural heritage site. Near the Langqi Bridge, visitors can spot the stone tablets and archways of Puzhu Temple.
Despite its modest exterior, the temple’s interior is remarkable. Puzhu Temple covers a vast area, with the entire rear mountain being part of its scenic area. Upon entering the temple’s mountain gate, one can enjoy the beautiful mountain views and the soothing sound of the stream, which calms the mind.

The rear mountain is known as the ‘Mountain of Five Hundred Arhats’. A winding stone path leads to the summit, with hundreds of Arhat stone sculptures lining both sides of the path. The layout of these statues is meticulously designed, taking into account the mountain’s terrain, the size and direction of the springs, and the size of the gaps, creating a harmonious unity between natural landscapes and man-made arrangements.

Hundreds of bluestone Arhat statues, similar in size to real people, are exquisitely carved and lifelike. Some are meditating, some are preaching, some are contemplating, some are practicing martial arts, and some are working, captivating visitors with their diversity. Among the Arhat statues, there are also stone carvings of tigers, leopards, lions, and elephants, adding to the richness of the scene.

From the summit of the temple’s rear mountain, one can enjoy an unobstructed view of the vast ocean. The temple is open all year round from 9:00 to 17:00.
