The orchard is located in the northern part of Changping, at the junction of the Taihang and Yanshan mountain ranges. The ‘Warm Zone’ that stretches for hundreds of miles before the mountains is a ‘treasure land’ for apple growth. Changping apples are known for their sweetness, good taste, and high vitamin content. In April 1980, the orchard officially introduced the original Fuji apple plants from Japan for planting.
With extensive experiments, observations, and cultivation efforts by scientific personnel, a superior variety of Fuji suitable for cultivation in the Beijing area was successfully selected. The orchard employs techniques such as apple bagging, laying reflective film under the trees, artificial pollination, and high grafting for quality improvement. Chemical fertilizers are never used in the apple production area; only organic fertilizers are applied. Biological pesticides sprayed on apple trees are supplied by the Changping Plant Protection Station, with the government subsidizing 50%. The orchard also vigorously promotes biological control techniques, releasing parasitic wasps and using insect-killing lamps, pheromone lures, and other methods to eliminate pests and enhance the safety of apple production. The ‘Apple Annual Cultivation Management Work Calendar’ and ‘Pest and Disease Control Calendar’ have been established, with management standards for every step from pruning, flower and fruit management, bagging, laying film, leaf removal, and fruit turning to underground fertilization and water management, as well as pest and disease control. Opening hours: 01/01-12/31, open all day. Preferential policy: For additional information, please refer to the day’s disclosure at the scenic spot. Note: 1.
