Zhonghua Quyuan: A Hub for Traditional Chinese Performance Arts

Zhonghua Quyuan serves as the performance venue for the Tianjin Traditional Chinese Performing Arts Troupe, hosting over 400 shows annually, including drum music and crosstalk, attracting more than 15,000 enthusiasts. Originally established in the early 20th century as ‘Zhonghua Tea Garden’, it has been a stage for various traditional performances such as quyi, Hebei Bangzi, and Qinqiang. Renowned performers like Yin Dazi and Han Junqing have graced its stage.

The tea garden was already a well-known theater at the time, and after liberation, it continued to be a small performance venue, active with local and foreign artists. Post-1980, Zhonghua Quyuan has been the main stage for the Tianjin Traditional Chinese Performing Arts Troupe. Both the troupe’s performances and the Northern School of Traditional Chinese Performing Arts’ practice base are located here at ‘Zhonghua Quyuan’.

The opening hours are subject to on-site announcements.
