Zhang Xue Ming’s former residence is located at No. 50 Munan Road, Heping District, Tianjin, built in 1925. It is a two-story courtyard-style residence with the main building at the front, where the master’s daily life and dining took place, and the rear building served as the servants’ quarters and family classrooms.

Zhang Xue Ming was the brother of Zhang Xue Liang and served as the mayor of Tianjin before the liberation. He was also a recognized gourmet with extensive knowledge of various cuisines. His residence was meticulously designed. The main building features a sloped roof and Western-style architecture with exterior walls made of purple-red machine bricks and luxurious interior decoration.

The ground floor includes a hall with a warm corridor and a flower room, connected to guest bedrooms, dining rooms, a pantry, a kitchen, bathrooms, and a staircase. The second floor houses bedrooms, a reception room, and two bathrooms. The hall is adorned with stained glass and a T-shape skylight for natural lighting.

In front of the building lies a garden filled with lilacs, and the entire garden is enveloped in wisteria vines throughout the year. The site is open all year round, 24 hours a day, but only the exterior is accessible to the public.
