Wang Zhanyuan (1861-1933), a native of Guantao, Shandong, served as the military governor of Hubei Province and the inspector of the two lakes. The layout of each building in Wang Zhanyuan’s former residence is asymmetrical. The front protruding part of the first floor is a semi-circular glass flower hall, above which is a balcony on the front part, and on the second-floor roof, a concrete large canopy protrudes. The back half of the balcony is a partial three-story living area. The former residence is now the First Workers’ Sanatorium and is listed as immovable cultural heritage in Tianjin. It is open all year round and accessible to visitors only from the outside.
