The Cambridge Building is located opposite the well-known Qingwang Mansion. It is also one of the three buildings designed by Gai Ling. The building was constructed in 1936 and is a four-story building with a mixed structure. As Chongqing Avenue was named Cambridge Road back then, it got its name. Gai Ling is an Austrian architectural designer. Due to the modern wars, Gai Ling couldn’t return to his country. Therefore, most of his works are left on the land of China. After the Cambridge Building was completed, Gai Ling opened an office inside. Many of the small foreign-style buildings on Wudadao were designed by Gai Ling.
