Guyun Temple is located in the northwest corner of Hebei District, Tianjin. It is an ancient temple in a fishing village beside the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. The initiator of building the temple and also the abbot is a traveling monk from Luoyang, Henan Province. To express his longing for his hometown, he, a skilled craftsman, took the White Horse Temple in Luoyang as a model and carefully carved a white horse stone sculpture carrying scriptures on its back and placed it in front of the main hall of the temple.
