Guia Fort (built in 1622) is located on the top of Guia Mountain, the highest peak on the Macau Peninsula, overlooking the entire peninsula. There is a lighthouse and chapel on the fort. Guia Lighthouse (built in 1864) is the first modern lighthouse on the coast of China. The coordinates of its location on the ground are also the geographical positioning of Macau on the world map.
The small church on the side of the lighthouse is called Our Lady of the Snow Temple (built in 1622). The vaults and walls inside the church are painted with colorful murals. Its painting techniques combine Chinese and Western art, making it unique among many local churches.
