Chongqing Grand Theater is a large-scale social and cultural facility integrating opera, drama, concert performances, cultural and artistic exchanges, and multi-function. The building consists of 7 floors above ground and 2 floors underground, with a glass wall exterior and an irregular architectural shape. The auditorium is traditionally horseshoe-shaped, allowing excellent stage visibility for both the main hall and two-story seating.
The roof height is approximately 64.06 meters. The length from east to west is about 220 meters, and the width from north to south is about 110 meters. It houses a grand theater with approximately 1850 seats, including about 930 seats in the theater and 300 seats in the rehearsal hall. The materials used in the Grand Theater are designed for extra-large, top-grade, high-rise buildings, with a seismic fortification category of Class B and a designed service life of 100 years. The internal acoustics are powerful, allowing actors to be heard throughout the venue without the use of microphones. The outer wall of the Grand Theater will be in an emerald green tone, and the structure will use a double-layer ventilated glass curtain wall system. When strong light shines on the outer layer of glass, the air sandwiched between the two layers of glass heats up and vents from the top, which not only enhances the aesthetics of the wall but also effectively alleviates overheating of the inner layer. As the outer glass wall is light-transmitting, at night, the Grand Theater appears like a transparent, blazing crystal ball from the outside. It is open all year round from 09:00 to 18:00, and on performance days from 09:00 to 20:00.Chongqing Grand Theater
