Teresa Teng’s Cemetery: Junyuan

Junyuan, the final resting place of Teresa Teng, is a place of constant visitors and ever-blooming flowers, no matter the time of visit. Fans’ tributes of fresh flowers adorn the tombstone carved with her image.

The cemetery is divided into two parts: a square and the burial ground, with the square being larger than the latter. A piano is ‘buried’ on the ground, with only its massive keyboard visible.

In the center of the square stands a full-length statue of Teresa Teng, with arms outstretched and a gentle smile. A specially designed musical note garden features shrubs arranged to form musical note symbols, reflecting her love for music during her lifetime.

At the entrance to the cemetery, there is a jukebox containing 10 of Teresa Teng’s most famous songs, including ‘When Will You Come Back’ and ‘Stories of a Small Town’, which play on a loop every day. The tranquil mountains are filled with her sweet and elegant singing, as if a perpetual remembrance from her fans.

The coffin lid in Junyuan is polished black marble, with a large stone to the right inscribed with the word ‘Junyuan’ by the current chairman of the People First Party, James Soong. To the left stands a stone monument, engraved with the same epitaph in multiple languages – ‘Here lies a superstar who dedicated her life to the art of singing’.

Junyuan is open all year round, with full-day service facilities including accessible parking and entrances.
