Guan Du Palace, located in Beitou District, Taipei City, is an ancient Mazu temple in the northern region. It is a religious site that practices Buddhism and applies Taoism, attracting worshippers from all over the place. Established around 1661 AD, the temple is dedicated to Mazu, originally known as Ling Shan Temple, situated atop Ling Shan Mountain.
Guan Du Palace has a long history, with the main hall’s facade made of stone walls, each carved with various historical stories. The staircase railings on both sides are also crafted with similar stone reliefs, displaying exquisite workmanship. The stone pillars in front of the palace are engraved with coiled dragons, along with stone lions and wall carvings, making it even more spectacular.
Upon entering Guan Du Palace, the ceiling of the hall, with its intricately sculpted and painted brackets, beams, and rafters, is truly a work of art. Due to the thriving incense, Guan Du Palace has been continuously expanded, including the Hall of the Holy Mother, the Hall of Guanyin, the Hall of Wenchang, the Ancient Buddha Cave, Guangdu Temple, Drum Tower, and Bell Tower.
