Bitan is a landmark of Xindian and one of the eight scenic spots in Taipei, especially the Bitan Suspension Bridge. Taking a swan boat ride on the lake with family and friends at Bitan is a common memory for many Taipei people. In addition to the refreshing green water, the surrounding scenery is also very nice. On the left bank of Bitan, one can take the Hemeishan Trail, which is divided into two routes: the blue line waterfront and the green line mountain-friendly. They are distinguished by the color of the trail railings and lead to the Xindian Ferry Literature Trail and the top of Hemeishan respectively. The Lion Head Mountain on the right bank of Bitan is formed by the undulation of five mountains. One can overlook Bitan, Xindian River, and National Highway No. 2 all at one’s feet.
