Earless Teapot Mountain in Ruifang is a popular destination for those who wish to admire the sea of grass in the north. Alongside the accessible Caoling Ancient Trail, this mountain provides spectacular views. Upon reaching its high point, the first thing that captures your attention is the blue ocean and the interspersed white and green hillsides, with vermilion pavilions dotting the prominent peaks. Far below, the renowned Yin Yang Sea sparkles.
Access to the hiking trail can be found from the Gold Museum or the Quanji Hall, with uphill and flat paths interlacing. This might be a bit challenging for those with less physical strength. As you ascend, you’ll pass through industrial roads offering an expansive view of the winding roads and the Shui-lan cave. The trail of Earless Teapot Mountain passes by Chaobao Pavilion and Bao Shi Pavilion, the latter being at a higher altitude. Both pavilions not only provide rest but also serve as excellent viewing points.
Arriving at Bao Shi Pavilion signifies that the hike is nearing its end. Snow-white grasses extend from the path all the way to the summit, making Earless Teapot Mountain appear as if it’s wearing a fluffy sweater in autumn. To reach the peak, you will need to climb a steep slope. The distance is not long, but the gradient is quite significant, so make sure to wear shoes with good grip.
Many people, after conquering Earless Teapot Mountain, will continue to Banping Mountain and Can Guangliao Mountain, and then descend to the Gold Museum, completing an O-shaped circular route. This journey offers a unique experience of the natural beauty and the cultural heritage of the area.If time and energy permit, it is a good route to explore the mountains of Jiufen. The hiking difficulty is not high. Open year-round and accessible 24 hours a day.
