Wanglongpi, formerly known as ‘Soft Pond’, is located in Zhenshan Village, Yuanshan Township, Yilan. It is a lake formed hundreds of years ago due to mountain torrents. It covers an area of about four or five hectares. Since the surrounding mountains are not high and the catchment area is not wide, when there is little rain, the pond is prone to drying up. When there is heavy rain, the water overflows. The water level of the lake is irregular, and its water storage function is weak. In the 20th century, embankments were built, a lakeside walking path and pavilions were constructed. Trees were planted on the lakeshore to beautify the environment. An artificial island was added to the lake, and a beautiful arch bridge and zigzag bridge were built to connect the lakeshore. Water sources were introduced and fish were released, bringing vitality back to Wanglongpi and reproducing the beautiful scenery of lakes and mountains, making it a new tourist and leisure attraction. Opening hours: Open all year round from 8:00 to 18:00.
