Qingquan Scenic Area

Qingquan Hot Spring, nestled by the Shangping River in Taoshan Village, Wufeng Township, Hsinchu County, is a historic settlement of the Atayal and Saisiyat tribes. Established in 1913 AD, it was initially developed for the exclusive use of Japanese police on the border guard line, earning it the name ‘Inoue Hot Spring’. This hot spring is also famed as one of the eight scenic spots in Hsinchu, with the saying “trying out the bath at Qingquan”.

Visitors to Qingquan Hot Spring can traverse two suspension bridges. The first bridge takes them to the tribal market within the mountain, while the second bridge leads directly to the hot spring itself. Along the way, tourists can also enjoy the enchanting scenery of Hsinchu by visiting Dalulin Road.

Qingquan Hot Spring boasts several springs with an average temperature of around 48 degrees Celsius. These springs are characterized by their colorless, odorless, and neutral carbonated water. Among the attractions in the area is the Qingquan Catholic Church, a magnificent structure in the Qingquan region.

In 1976, Father Ding Songqing arrived in Qingquan and began his priestly ministry. With his love, perseverance, and artistic talent, he transformed the Catholic Church into a hub of religion and folk culture. This unique church has become the artistic, spiritual, and cultural center of the village. The church features colorful inlaid glass designed by Father Ding and is adorned with murals and wood carvings that celebrate the local ethnic minorities. Today, the Qingquan Catholic Church stands as a popular tourist attraction in the Qingquan area.
