Qigu Lagoon is located in Qigu Township, Tainan County. The area covers 1,600 hectares and is located between Qigu Creek and Jiangjun Creek. Locals call it ‘Neihaizi’. It is surrounded by three sandbars, namely Dingtoue’eshan, Wangziliaoshan and Qingshangan’gangshan. This calm sea field with no waves has a rich and flourishing ecosystem of animals and plants, such as fish, shellfish, oysters, crabs, shrimps, mangroves, egrets, and the international VIP – black-faced spoonbills. In total, there are 125 species of fish, 73 species of shellfish, and more than 30 species of shellfish. In addition, there are large areas of mangroves on both sides of the mouth of Qigu Creek, mainly Kandelia candel. It is a favorite habitat for egrets. There are also magnificent sand dunes rarely seen in Taiwan. The sand dunes formed by the northeast monsoon are extremely special landscapes here. The lines are very beautiful, just like a super-small desert, often making tourists linger and forget to return! After visiting, you can go to Longshan Village to enjoy the ‘oyster feast’. The ‘oysters’ here are plump and delicious, and there is no pollution. Come here to taste the ‘oyster feast’ – oyster vermicelli, oyster soup, fried oysters, oysters with fermented black beans, and loofah with oysters. It will definitely make you enjoy it to the fullest and have an endless aftertaste. And ‘oyster vermicelli’ can be said to be a famous specialty of Qigu. However, the ‘oyster vermicelli’ here is different from the general pasty ‘oyster vermicelli’. It is stir-fried with oysters, vermicelli and scallions. It has a unique flavor. Open all year round, open all day.
