Elanbi Park

Elanbi Park

Elanbi Park is located at the southern tip of Taiwan. Due to the strong coastal sunlight and clear seawater, it is suitable for the growth of reef-building corals. The park has risen due to tectonic uplift, and has been shaped by the erosion of waves, rainwater, and strong winds, resulting in a unique landscape of towering reefs, grotesque rocks, peculiar peaks, and caves.

The park’s trails crisscross like a maze, with attractions such as the Hero Stone, the Sea View Pavilion, Another Village, the Gnarled Banyan, the Secluded Valley, and the Welcoming Pavilion, all of which are fascinating. Looking north from the park, one can see the blue sky and sea, green trees and white sand, jagged reefs, and the sharp peaks of the terraced land, forming a magnificent and diverse seascape. Additionally, there stands the towering Qiongma Flower Axis, interspersed among them, creating a grand and colorful picture of mountains and seas.

Every year in September (around the solar term of White Dew), a large number of Red-tailed Shrikes from Siberia and mainland China pass through, a spectacular scene worth waiting for.

The most famous landmark within the park is the Elanbi Lighthouse. This armed lighthouse, with a history of over a hundred years, is known as the ‘Light of East Asia’. The pure white and beautiful lighthouse stands out against the blue sky and green grass, a delightful sight to behold. Next to the lighthouse, there is also a memorial stone for the ‘Eight Scenic Spots of Taiwan’, for visitors to take photos and remember. On the northwest side of the Elanbi Lighthouse, scholars have discovered prehistoric sites of the pottery culture from five thousand years ago, which are also worth visiting.

The park is open all year round from 06:30 to 18:30.
