The Leizu Ancestral Hall is built against the mountain and faces the plain, showcasing its grandeur and magnificence. The hall is divided into three sections, composed of the mountain gate, main hall, side halls, rear hall, eastern and western wings, bell and drum towers, and stele corridors, with all buildings laid out along the central axis. The screens in front of the eastern and western side halls are exquisitely carved, demonstrating great craftsmanship. The rear hall covers an area of over 10,000 square meters, making it one of the larger ancestral halls in the Lingnan region.
With a long history, the Leizu Ancestral Hall has been praised in countless writings. There are poems by Kou Zhun, prose by Su Dongpo, records by Ding Wei, and inscriptions by Li Gang. Over 30 steles from various dynasties are still present within the hall.
Located at Yingbang Mountain, five miles southwest of Leizhou City, the hall is nestled against the mountain and beside the water, offering beautiful scenery and is known as ‘Lei Gang Soaring in Uniqueness,’ one of the eight scenic spots of Leiyang. The hall is open year-round from 8:00 to 17:00.
