Xuling Village, a place steeped in legend, is named after the story of Wu Zixu. It is said that Wu Zixu, while fleeing, reached a mountain ridge where he fell ill and sought refuge in a karst cave. There, he discovered a heavenly book and, in his recovery, inscribed the following message before departing: “The ground is bound by stone, written on the fifth day of the twelfth lunar month. The northern ridge turns dangers into safety, the western foot like a door guarding without worries. The steep path of Xuling is a land of joy, an omen. Leaving a memory for the neighbors, planting spring-expecting trees, farming on behalf of the farmers, named after Xuling. Xuling Village resides peacefully and unharmed. Abandoning the official to heal, this is a blessed land.”
The village, resembling a phoenix’s nest, is guarded by lion and elephant figures, ensuring the safety and happiness of its residents. Its natural beauty is captivating, with the picturesque scenery of Jade Spring, Golden Chestnut, and the enigmatic Lion’s Tail Cave. The area enjoys a temperate climate, warm in winter and cool in summer. The Zixu Spring, with its 500-year cycle, maintains a constant temperature, offering sweet and fresh water. The divinely crafted terraced fields, adorned with star-like solid stones, are a sight to behold. The winding road is likened to a dragon playing with the beads of the celestial pool. Huilong Fan and Yongfu Temple’s Zen path are home to ancient ginkgo, camphor, and spring-expecting trees, while the culture of Xuling, with its agricultural cultivation, diet, and folk customs, inherits the essence of human civilization.
In spring, the sun graces the landscape with a tapestry of rapeseed flowers, peach blossoms, pear blossoms, and mountain flowers, creating a canvas of natural beauty. The Xuxiang River winds like a ribbon, weaving a rainbow through the scene. White walls and black tiles form a palace-like structure, while the ancient path, like a brush, paints landscapes that invite one to return home without a path, intoxicated in the beauty of Xuling Ridge.
