Wu Gong Mountain in Hangzhou City starts from the west side of the Drum Tower and extends to the top of Wu Gong. Wu Mountain is composed of Baoyue, E Mei, Rui Shi, Qi Bao, Yun Ju, and Jindi (commonly known as City God Mountain), Wu Gong, and other mountains.

There used to be a temple dedicated to Wu Zixu, a minister of the State of Wu during the Spring and Autumn period, commonly known as Wu Gong Temple, from which the mountain derived its name. Many households still reside on the mountain, making it a famous hill in Hangzhou.

A watchtower was built on Wu Gong Mountain, where firefighters kept watch day and night, leading to the old saying in Hangzhou, ‘On City God Mountain, watch the fire burn.’ The tower still stands, though abandoned, and has become a scenic spot on its own.

The mountain is open all day from January 1st to December 31st.
