Fuyan Temple Scenic Area is located within the territory of Tongxiang City, under the jurisdiction of Fengming Street. It is composed of the ancient Fuyan Zen Temple, which has a history of over a thousand years, and the Fuyan Cultural Garden, covering an area of more than 130 acres. It is now a national 3A-level tourist attraction and a religious tourist destination that integrates leisure, Buddhist worship, and health preservation.

Fuyan Zen Temple, with a history of over 1500 years, has an ancient saying that ‘Fuyan Temple existed before Lingyin Temple.’ The temple’s architecture is magnificent, and during various festivals, incense days, and Buddha’s birthday, the temple is filled with the smoke of incense and bustling with activity. Throughout several dynasties, numerous cultural relics and historical sites have been left behind, famous for the ‘Fuyan Seven Treasures,’ which include the Cloud Stone, Stone补充钟, Yin-Yang Mirror, Shakya Jade Buddha, Horsehide Drum, Five Hundred Arhats, and the Jade Brilliance Golden Inscription Plaque.

In addition, it has formed indissoluble bonds with figures such as Yang Wanli, Kang Youwei, Lin Juemin and Lin Yinmin brothers, Pu Hua, and Feng Zikai.
Adjacent to the temple, the Fuyan Cultural Garden is a cultural park with Buddhist culture as its connotation, divided into two parts, east and west. The eastern part is a typical Jiangnan water town garden, while the western part mainly features Buddhist culture, with buildings such as the Unique Door, Wall of Law, and Dharma Sea Tripitaka, all rich in Buddhist connotations.

The Vegetarian Cultural Tourism Festival held every May Day offers you a refined journey to taste vegetarian food, appreciate art, and experience Buddhist culture. The Fuyan Zen Tea Banquet in October is a delightful journey for you to listen to Buddhist scriptures, taste Zen tea, and comprehend life. Open all year round from 07:00 to 16:30.
