Taiping Ancient Town is located in Gulin County, Luzhou City, on the south bank of Chishui River. The ancient town is built against the mountain. Most of the existing buildings are houses from the Ming and Qing dynasties. Tourists can stroll around and savor these ancient buildings.
The story of the Red Army’s four crossings of Chishui took place in Taiping Ancient Town. Feeling the revolutionary atmosphere is a good choice. The ancient town is mainly composed of three main streets: Changzheng Street, Red Army Street and Shunhe Street. Walking slowly along the stepped lanes, on both sides are ancient buildings with a strong sense of hierarchy, full of historical atmosphere. You can take photos as souvenirs. Tourists who like history are recommended to visit the Taipingdu Exhibition Hall of the Red Army’s Four Crossings of Chishui. The museum displays various precious cultural relics such as seals of the Red Army troops, medical books, washbasins, hurricane lamps, and bugle scores.

In 1935, the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army launched the world-famous ‘Four Crossings of Chishui’ campaign on the border of Sichuan, Yunnan and Guizhou. The main ferry crossings for the second and fourth crossings of Chishui are located in Taiping Ancient Town.
