Yufeng Mountain is located in Tinglin Park in the northwest of Kunshan City. Due to its shape like a saddle, it is commonly known as Ma’anshan Mountain. Later, it was renamed ‘Yufeng Mountain’. Yufeng Mountain covers an area of 1.5 square kilometers and has an altitude of 80 meters. Among vast flat fields, it stands alone. On the mountain, there are scenic spots such as Nieyun Peak, Old Man Peak, Ziyun Rock, Sword Testing Stone, Qunqiu Stone, and Phoenix Stone.
There are also caves such as Qixia Cave, Taoyuan Cave, Baoyu Cave, and Changyang Cave. At the mountain peak, there are Huazang Temple, Lingxiao Tower, Wenbi Peak, Yuqing Pavilion, and Miaofeng Stone Pagoda (Song Zhiping Stone Pillar). On the mountainside, there are Xianhe Pavilion, Midway Pavilion, and Linji Pavilion (inside there are stone carvings of couplets handwritten by Lin Zexu). At the foot of the mountain, there is the tomb of Liu Guo, a poet of the Song Dynasty, as well as Dongzhai, the Chonggong Shrine of Gu Dingchen, a grand secretary of Wenhua Pavilion in the Ming Dynasty, and the monument to martyr Zhu Tantan of the 1911 Revolution. The mountain produces jade stones (Kunshi), which are white, crystal clear, exquisitely carved, and are excellent national stones. The name of Yufeng Mountain comes from this. In ancient times, there were poems by Meng Jiao and Zhang Ju of the Tang Dynasty and a poem in response by Wang Anshi of the Song Dynasty, known as the ‘Four Wonders in the Mountain’.
