The Shanghai Printing Museum, established by the Shanghai Publishing and Printing College, was completed in 1998. It stands among the first batch of Shanghai university ethnic culture museums and is recognized as one of the Shanghai industrial tourism museums. Additionally, it serves as a patriotic education base and a science popularization education base in the city.
The museum’s exhibition area spans nearly 1000 square meters and is segmented into five distinct sections:
1. “The Origin, Development, and Spread of Printing Technology”
2. “The Introduction and Development of Modern Printing Technology”
3. “Shanghai Printing Industry”
4. “Printing Experience”
5. “Printing Fine Products Display”
These sections vividly present the profound printing culture, inherit the ancient and splendid printing civilization, and showcase the development of modern printing technology. The exhibition is enriched with a multitude of cultural relics, documentary materials, physical models, simulation operations, digital images, and other engaging means.
The museum operates all year round from Monday to Friday, with opening hours from 09:00 to 11:30 in the morning and from 13:30 to 16:30 in the afternoon. It remains closed on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year. To visit, it is necessary to make an appointment in advance. The specific business status is subject to the actual opening conditions on the day.
