Pentuang Lane is an old alley in Shanghai built in 1864. In fact, ‘pentuang’ means bathhouse. Old Shanghainese people call it ‘huntang’. As time goes by, this place has become a whole street of huntang. Pentuang Lane gets its name from this and becomes the general birthplace of huntang in Shanghai.
