The former Nisshin Building, now known as the Shipping Building, is located at 5 Zhongshan East Road. It is the birthplace of the renowned Japanese enterprise, Nisshin. The building faces east with its main entrance in the center of the west facade. The Japanese-built lower three floors and semi-basement feature a simple architectural style, classified as ‘Japanese Modern Western Style’. The upper three floors, constructed by Jewish builders, are more elaborately decorated, with eaves between the floors and relief carvings on the window frames below the eaves. The Shipping Building boasts a rare rooftop garden at the time of its construction. The opening hours and business status are subject to the daily opening conditions.
