Rongxiang Historical Block, also known as Rongxiang Ancient Town, is one of the cradles of China’s national industry and commerce and is one of the famous historical and cultural blocks in Wuxi City. With a history of nearly 600 years, Rongxiang originated from a natural village where the Rong family lived during the Ming and Qing dynasties. The rapid rise of the Rong family, represented by industrial and commercial figures such as Rong Zongjing and Rong Desheng, transformed Rongxiang into a town.
Influenced by the culture of the Rong family, industrial and commercial culture, landscape ecology, history of famous cities, agricultural civilization, and the modern civilization of combining Chinese and Western elements, it presents a diverse form and regional uniqueness, forming a splendid cultural scene. To this day, a 380-meter-long old street with modern features and 157 modern buildings with the imprint of the times and local characteristics are still preserved.
