Affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Spring Festival of 2020 saw millions of people staying at home, encouraging each other not to gather or move around, to hold on, and to cheer for Hubei and Wuhan, achieving a phased victory in the fight against the epidemic. Gradually, the risk level began to decrease, and it became possible to go out for a walk.

After being cooped up at home for three months, on the afternoon of April 19th, my daughter drove to Minhang Sports Park for a stroll. It took less than half an hour to reach the park. The weather was cloudy, and there were not many people, which suited me, and the entrance was free.

Minhang Sports Park is located to the west of the outer ring road, north of Gudai Road, east of Xinzhen Road, and south of Nongnan Road. It is constructed with a contemporary ecological and humanized spatial environment. The park is one of the first in Shanghai to offer free admission. It has been awarded the title of Shanghai’s Double Excellent Park and Shanghai’s ‘Seven Nos’ Civilized Park.

The total area of Minhang Sports Park is about 1260 acres, including 200 acres for sports facilities, 244 acres for the Tropical Storm water park, and 40 acres for the Youth Activity Center, with a total investment budget of 570 million yuan. The park’s design and construction follow the principles of ‘adapting to local conditions, people-oriented, and returning to nature,’ creating a contemporary ecological and humanized spatial environment.

It features a sports facilities area, a Tropical Storm water park, a Youth Activity Center, and 10 scenic areas: a shaded Path Area, Viewing Lawn Area, Jade Mountain Forest Area, Pebble Stream Area, Wetland Ecological Area, Music Sculpture Square Area, Beautiful Lake Area, Southern Style Area, Colorful Central Square Area, Hundred Tree Forest Area, and Kilometer Forest Belt Area. It also includes facilities for sports activities such as a hill-long slide, mini golf course, fitness garden, children’s playground, children’s bicycles, yachting, and fishing.
