A Stroll Through Shanghai’s Minhang Sports Park, Songjiang Fangta Park, and Zui Bai Chi Park

The lotus leaves in the pool are in the southeast, and the fragrance of flowers comes in waves. It seems to have its own poetic and picturesque charm.

“Ten Deer Nine Looking Back” Stone Carving – This stone relief reflects the historical legends of Songjiang. The carving is slightly square, about one meter on each side, depicting ten robust sika deer in motion, vivid and lifelike. Among the ten deer, nine are turning their heads back, hence the name “Ten Deer Nine Looking Back.” It is said that this carving symbolizes the deep affection of Songjiang people for their homeland. Since the word “deer” sounds similar to “salary” or “income” in Chinese, it suggests that those who seek work or business outside, despite their prosperity, always miss their hometown and yearn to return to their roots. This carving not only expresses a love for nature but also embodies the people’s strong attachment and sense of belonging to their native land.
