Anjia Courtyard is located on the Guyi Street in Yangliuqing Town, originally constructed during the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, and it was the residence of An Wenzhong.
Built in the Tongzhi era of the Qing Dynasty, Anjia Courtyard consists of three interconnected courtyards, forming a typical northern Chinese quadrangle compound, covering an area of two acres. The courtyard is situated on high ground and is a classic example of a northern mansion. Anjia Courtyard is celebrated because the An family produced a remarkable historical figure, An Wenzhong. At the age of sixteen, An Wenzhong joined the army and traveled westward, passing through one hundred and fifty-three stations, carrying a pole on his shoulder to supply daily necessities to the soldiers. Under An Wenzhong’s influence, the peddlers of Yangliuqing formed a vast Tianjin merchant group known as ‘Gan Daying’. At that time, they not only promoted economic prosperity but also strengthened national unity. An Wenzhong is an exemplary figure of the three thousand households in Yangliuqing who challenged poverty and became wealthy. Opening hours: 08:30-17:30, open all year round.Anjia Courtyard
