Located at the southwest corner of Shanghai, Jinshan District has witnessed a significant influx of urban residents settling along its coastal areas since the completion of Shanghai Petrochemical in 1978. The era has progressed at a lightning speed, and the coastal old town area established at that time has become a retirement home for the builders of that generation. With the construction of Baiyuan and Wanda, the younger generation has gradually migrated northward.

Living between Wanda and Baiyuan, my activities were confined to this area until the day I attended a lecture by the lakeside of Jinshan Industrial Park at Jinshui Lake. It was then that I discovered the scenery depicted by Hayao Miyazaki was right beside me. The newly constructed residential area looked particularly grand under the autumn colors. Opposite it was a five-star hotel. A bridge was built next to the lake, and the sky was exceptionally blue that day.
