Winter vacation has arrived, and with the improving weather, the number of tourists is on the rise. As we look for the most searched keyword during this season, Shanghai Disney Resort stands out as the newest and largest amusement park in Shanghai. However, it’s worth noting that in Shanghai’s Minhang District, there is the earliest large amusement park in the city – Jinjiang Amusement Park. In my childhood memories, Jinjiang Amusement Park was vast and filled with entertaining facilities. Yet, when compared to today’s Disney, it’s like comparing a molehill to a mountain.
During my two-day trip in February, accompanied by friends, I visited several places including Shanghai Disney Resort, Shanghai Jinjiang Amusement Park, Shanghai Botanical Garden, Huang Daopo Memorial Hall, and Xujiahui Catholic Church. The average cost per person for this adventure was 600 yuan. I published my travelogue on February 6, 2021, at 16:40.
I highly recommend the Baiyulan Jinjiang Hotel, located on Hongmei Road in Minhang District, just 2 kilometers away from Shanghai South Railway Station. It’s conveniently situated right next to the exit of Jinjiang Amusement Park Station on Metro Line 1, offering practically zero distance from the amusement park. From the hotel window, you can even spot the Ferris wheel, making it the perfect blend of comfort and convenience. The hotel, formerly known as Jinjiang Star, was newly renovated and reopened this year. Its fresh design concept, with a special focus on the lobby and other public areas, caught my attention. The decoration style is themed around the white magnolia, the city flower of Shanghai, creating a fresh and artistic atmosphere. The bookshelves in the dynamic space are not just for decoration but also hold some books for guests traveling outside to read, a thoughtful design that warms the heart. Every staff member in the hotel warmly greets guests, providing considerate and warm service. The hotel has one elevator, and the clean hallways give a perfect first impression upon entering. Opening the room door, a fresh feeling comes rushing in. Each room has hand-painted white magnolia flowers on the walls, and the color matching looks very comfortable.
After dropping off our luggage at the hotel, we arrived at Jinjiang Amusement Park to relive the joy of childhood. Ticket information: 1. Sightseeing ticket: 10 yuan per ticket, for people over 70 years old and children under 1.3 meters in height; 2. Two-item ticket: 60 yuan per ticket, excluding the Shanghai Ferris Wheel, 4D cinema, and Volcano Cinema; 3. Six-item joint ticket: 100 yuan per ticket, excluding the Shanghai Ferris Wheel, 4D cinema, and Volcano Cinema. There are many projects in the park, including the park train, double-decker carousel, hurricane swing chair, monorail bicycle, bumper cars, roller coaster, wave roller, haunted house, and the earliest large Ferris wheel in China – Shanghai Ferris Wheel.
Next to Jinjiang Amusement Park, there is a night market, which was previously the famous ‘Shilin Night Market’ from Taiwan and has now been renamed ‘Jinjiang Amusement Park Night Market’. Although I have never been to Taiwan, I still know about the ‘Shilin Night Market’.

All the items available at theThe church is a stunning architectural marvel in the French medieval style. It features Gothic bell towers with spires on both sides of the top of the main hall, each soaring 50 meters high. Inside, the main hall is dominated by a statue of the Virgin Mary holding the baby Jesus, which stands atop the altar and overlooks the entire space, serving as the focal point of the church. The church is quite spacious, covering an area of 2,670 square meters with a building area of 6,670 square meters, and it can comfortably accommodate more than 3,000 people. For those staying at the hotel, the church is a convenient 7 kilometers away, a 20-minute drive.
The Shanghai Film Studio, located at 595 North Caoxi Road in Xuhui District, is in close proximity to the bustling Xujiahui business district. It is a historic Chinese film enterprise and one of the country’s three major film production bases. The studio was officially established on November 16, 1949. Between 1950 and 1952, eight private film companies, including Shanghai Changjiang Film Studio, Kunlun Film Company, Wenhua Film Company, and Guotai Film Company, were consolidated to form the state-owned Shanghai United Film Studio. In February 1953, Shanghai Film Studio merged with Shanghai United Film Studio, retaining the name of Shanghai Film Studio. It is merely 6 kilometers from the hotel, a journey that takes approximately 15 minutes by car.
