Baohexuan Teahouse opened in the eleventh year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty (1885). It is the earliest variety show garden in Tianjin (In July 1949, the first national literary and art workers’ congress renamed ‘variety show’ as ‘folk art’). It is also one of the so-called ‘Four Great Xuan’. The plaque was written by Zhang Fuxing and Meng Guanghui. After nearly a hundred years of changes and the baptism of the times. In 2022, Baohexuan Teahouse will appear in front of the world with a brand-new look. Retaining the historical relics of the teahouse and combining with the new era, it is presented in front of the audience. Baohexuan Teahouse gathers famous crosstalk actors of three age groups: old, middle-aged and young. The actors perform in the form of combining traditional culture with new era content. Through talking, learning, teasing, singing and acting, all kinds of worldly phenomena are shown. Laughter, scolding and anger are just for making everyone smile. Baohexuan Teahouse is located in Cultural Small Town, 50 meters next to the theater in Tianjin Ancient Cultural Street opposite the Haihe River.
