The new building of CCTV headquarters is renowned worldwide for its unique shape no matter how you look at it. It was designed by Ole Scheeren from Germany and Rem Koolhaas from the Netherlands leading the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA). The building’s avant-garde architectural appearance was selected as one of the top ten architectural wonders of the world in 2007 by Time magazine. The new CCTV site complex consists of three buildings: the CCTV main building on the southwest side, the Television Cultural Center on the northwest side, and the Energy Service Center on the northeast corner.

The main building, also known as the ‘big underpants’ among the people, consists of two towers rising from a common platform and converging at the top, creating a three-dimensional visual experience and breaking through the conventional vertical shape of skyscrapers. The main building is mainly divided into five areas: administrative area, comprehensive business area, news production and broadcasting area, broadcasting area, and program production area.

Among them, the program production area is partially open to the public. The building is open all year round and all day long for external viewing only. The interior is not open to the public.
